Various studies show that Lithuanian teachers lack a scientifically based, adapted methodology for working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There is no approved methodology in Lithuania for reducing the symptoms of ASD in children, and they could be integrated rather than isolated by being assigned to special schools.
The aim of the project is to apply the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis Method) methodology to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in order to reduce the signs of autism or other developmental disorders by increasing social integration and full inclusion in the education system

During the project it is planned:
  •  To apply science-based, personalized ABA therapy to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in their natural environment (including the family);
  • To acquaint Lithuanian small and medium-sized municipalities (Varėna, Trakai, Šiauliai, Šilutė, Prienai, Jurbarkas, Jonava, Birštonas, Kelmė districts and Palanga) education, training specialists and their assistants with the peculiarities of learning children and young people with ASD, to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the application of the ABA methodology.
  • To provide psychological support to parents /guardians who have young child with ASD.
Expected project results:
With the help of the ABA methodology, a team from the teacher, the assistant, the child/young person, his/her family will be brought together - this will effectively develop the child's independence, speaking, communication, play, reading, mathematics, writing skills and appropriate behavior: anger control, polite and responsible communication in society, safe behavior in an unfamiliar environment. After the implementation of the project, it is expected to contribute to the requirements of the Lithuanian Law on Education for general education institutions - in 2024, to involve all children and young people with special needs in the educational process and, most importantly, to provide special knowledge to teachers.

Project target groups: children and young people with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders, their families, classmates, educators and other professionals working with children and young people with ASD, the community.

The project is implemented without partners.
